Police are hunting a man who threatened a shop assistant with a large kitchen knife in an attempted robbery at a shop in Ashford.

The man entered the Stanhope Mini Market, in Speldhurst Close, at about 9.45pm on Wednesday last week carrying the knife and demanded the till was emptied.

The shop assistant refused and the offender left the shop empty handed.

He has been described as wearing a dark blue jacket with a large hood over his head, grey jogging bottoms and had a black scarf around his face.

Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact DC Jacqueline Mennie at Kent Police by calling 101 and quoting reference ZY/10679/13.
