A 25-year-old man was knocked unconscious and suffered cuts and bruising to his face in an attack in Ashford.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 11pm last Saturday in Station Road, to come forward.

The victim and his friends were walking along East Hill towards a nearby nightclub with another group of people who were walking in the same direction.

But without warning, one of the members of the group punched the victim and he was knocked unconscious.

He suffered cuts and bruising to his face and was taken to the William Harvey Hospital for treatment.

No-one in the group could provide descriptions of the offender.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have information about the attack to come forward and contact Police Sergeant Eric Norman on 101 quoting crime reference number ZY/10946/13.
